Practical life work with rosemary and a mortar and pestle encourages children to notice the scent, explore the texture, and enjoy the process. It supports fine motor development and brings a warm, meaningful sensory experience that is so lovely to see.
Flower arranging gives children a chance to handle real tools, make choices, and create something lovely for their classroom. They learn how to cut the stems, pour water into the vase, and place each flower with care. It’s a beautiful expression of concentration and growing independence that we get to see each day at our school.
Children painting a still life of autumn fruit or fall carnations is such a peaceful way to enjoy art this season. They slow down, notice color and shape, and practice observing with care. It’s a beautiful mix of creativity and classic Montessori work.
Pouring work is such a favorite in our classroom. It builds concentration, gives children real confidence, and helps them feel capable as they master a skill they can use every day. It looks simple, but it’s so much more.
Ms. Dorothy guided the children in creating a habitat to begin our study of North American animals and how they get ready for winter—some migrate, some hibernate, and others adapt in incredible ways. 🐻🍂

Art begins with curiosity. Even a few leaves and sticks can inspire creativity in children 🍂
A little cloud dough, a few nature treasures, and lots of joyful hands at work. Thank you, Ms. Maral, for such a fun sensory activity! 💛
A few small changes brought a fresh sense of excitement. New fall art trays, extra practical life work, inviting books on the shelves, and a refreshed setup ready to explore. 🍂

Over in the meadow where the green grass grows and childhood feels exactly as it should- full of play, laughter, sunshine, and bubbles 🫧
