Watching this moment unfold was so meaningful. Without being guided, the dolls were carefully organized, a blanket was found, and each one was gently tucked in. Even at such a young age, this kind of reflective thinking and independence shows how children learn to notice what’s needed and take initiative in their own way. It was such a sweet and thoughtful moment to see. It’s moments like these that show just how capable young children really are.
Practical life work with rosemary and a mortar and pestle encourages children to notice the scent, explore the texture, and enjoy the process. It supports fine motor development and brings a warm, meaningful sensory experience that is so lovely to see.
Flower arranging gives children a chance to handle real tools, make choices, and create something lovely for their classroom. They learn how to cut the stems, pour water into the vase, and place each flower with care. It’s a beautiful expression of concentration and growing independence that we get to see each day at our school.
Children painting a still life of autumn fruit or fall carnations is such a peaceful way to enjoy art this season. They slow down, notice color and shape, and practice observing with care. It’s a beautiful mix of creativity and classic Montessori work.
Pouring work is such a favorite in our classroom. It builds concentration, gives children real confidence, and helps them feel capable as they master a skill they can use every day. It looks simple, but it’s so much more.
A little cloud dough, a few nature treasures, and lots of joyful hands at work. Thank you, Ms. Maral, for such a fun sensory activity! πŸ’›
